Choose the right starting point

For a new deck, include approximate dimensions, preferred layout and any drawings. For repairs, send photographs of the areas causing concern and describe what you have noticed. Replacing surface boards and changing the structure are different scopes; a site assessment helps establish what can reasonably be retained.

Discuss materials and details

Walking surfaces, stairs, railings, trim and connections to nearby paths should be considered together. Tell us about material preferences and maintenance expectations. We confirm the proposed carpenter work, materials and any specialist responsibilities in the quote rather than assuming every component is included.

Plan approvals and site access

Design and approval requirements need to be reviewed for the specific project. Explain how materials can reach the site, whether the cottage will be occupied and which entrances must remain usable. Removal of an existing deck, disposal and restoration of adjacent areas should be stated in the scope.
